This is an inventory of ommission.

There is nothing here but deliberate "normalities”. Nothing else!

Even death vaunts a conformism hiding a multitude of sins.

One of the generation that made our calamitous present possible

whose legacy here feels like a sinister mask.

Elle fut un autre garde rouge du Spectacle ... Headpiece filled with straw.

Judith A. Ravel Minoff Wakeman of Guilford, Connecticut, died on December 5, 2009. Born November 27, 1938 in San Antonio, Texas, she was the oldest daughter of the late Victor and Myra Ravel of Austin and sister to the late Phyllis Rosenblum of Houston, Texas. She is survived by sons, Logan and Kolya [sic]; stepchildren, Wendy Wakeman Stashke and Walter Wakeman; as well as eleven grandchildren. Judith was among the leading graduates of Austin High School's class of 1956, and went on to attain Phi Beta Kappa and graduate Magna Cum Laude from Smith College with her B.A. in 1960. After a career in theatre and the arts spanning twenty years, Judith chose to practice law. She became a member of the Connecticut Law Review in 1982 and earned her degree with honors from UCONN Law School in 1984 before founding her own practice in 1993. A well-respected member of the Connecticut Bar Association, Judith served as Town Council for Guilford, Westbrook and Madison, and as Labor Counsel to the Town of Essex. Judith was dedicated to improving her community and active in the Guilford Democratic Party. She was a member of the Guilford School Board, a pioneer of Guilford's A Better Chance (ABC) program and instrumental in establishing the Guilford Women and Family Life Center. Judith was also an active board member of the Sachems Head Association for many years and served as its president in 2007 and 2008. As Carl Balestracci, former First Selectman of Guilford, said of Judith: "Her wise counsel kept us focused, her tenacity kept us moving forward and her impeccable ethic kept us on course." She will be laid to rest at Guilford's Nut Plains Cemetery beside her spouse.
