Les baroqueux are revisionists resisting the post-Romantic mainstream hegemons of the 20th century, conspicuously (or figuratively) against Otto Klemperer, Wilhelm Furtwängler and Herbert von Karajan, "normalizers" [a caustic euphemism] of the Baroque repertoire and performance. The pioneers of the movement were, among many others, Nikolaus Harnoncourt and Gustav Leonhardt, who began re-exploring and drastically changing the performance of Baroque music in the 1950s. Generation has surpassed generation in revising interpretation, technique, pitch, even the instruments themselves, discovering a vast wealth of neglected brilliant music and applying new genius to performance. A profound morphic resonance inures to this very human revolution. Une profonde résonance morphique demeure dans cette révolution tellement humaine.
